TAKING IT TO THE TEAM
Paradoxes abound: total connectedness amidst working styles at their most siloed. The pressure to have more impact yet no operational resources to faciliate that rich dialogue. Teams and leaders are asked to meet ever growing delivery expectations with corresponding levels of energy and readiness, but old playbooks for linear-style planning are at best inadequate if not architecting failure in emergent landscapes.
This era demands we ask more robust questions, trust lived experience more unequivocally, consider solutions intersectionally in multi-tiered systems and more accurately locate true signals amidst noise. This is the new practice required of all of us at work, and it’s going to take the village.
We challenge convention.

As a certified coach and facilitator, I’m passionate about fostering the conditions for expansive thinking. I’ve always worked across disciplines, spending over a decade as a communications strategist with leading tech startups in Canada before moving across sectors to build measurement programs for global NGO’s and international charities. I saw ways for design thinking and agile methods to help social impact work similarly manage the pressure of complexity: staying in problem solving mindsets longer, running design sprints to overcome unknowns through prototyping and running collective sense-making of data to overcome limits imposed by rigid plans. Base Frequency Studios was born to concentrate these practices into accessible programs acting as powerful containers for rapid learning and inventiveness, while honouring people’s diversity of strengths and need for collective learning as central to the process.
The followon effect of AI expanding capabilities for analytical tasks was a direct hit to team integrity: automations reduce manual admin, prototype concepts and initiate research but this adds corresponding pressure on teams to have their delivery be similarly paced. Teams are reaching for flexible approaches that help them generate rich perspectives and facilitate well-informed dialogue as a response to the data flood. Highly integrated automations are testing the quality of our relationships: how well can we can assess, navigate and reset changing direction? What is rooting or enabling our autonomy to take action? While AI implies delivery is single player, it’s not ambiguous for us that this game is about bringing problem solving and critical thinking into the team.
